Dill Sauce „Koprová omáčka”
This creamy sauce is very aromatic and has a strong taste. Some people cannot stand it, some love it. Still, this sauce is considered one of the most typical and oldest recipes in the Czech Republic. It is usually served with beef meat, hard boiled egg and bread dumplings.
- 1/3 cup fresh chopped dill (without stems)
- 1/4 cup oil
- 1/3 cup flour
- 4 1/2 cups milk
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp vinegar
- 8 hard-boiled eggs or beef (side)
- dumplings or potatoes (side)
Melt butter in a pan and then add the flour. Cook on low heat for about 3-5 minutes, stirring often not letting the flour burn. Add warm milk, stir and cook until thick. Mix the vinegar, sugar and dill in a separate bowl and add once the milk mixture is thick. Add two ladles full of the beef broth and salt to taste. Serve over the sliced beef meat and bread dumplings. Some people like it just with boiled eggs and potatoes.
