Schnitzel – „Řízek“

„Schnitzel“ is called „Řízek“ in Czech and the recipe originally comes from Germany and Austria. You can make it from all kinds of meat but Czechs like mainly pork and chicken. Czech people are usually easily recognized abroad because they often have schnitzel as a snack with them.




  • Chicken breast, pork  or veal
  • Flour
  • 2-3- eggs
  • Breadcrumbs
  • Oil
  • Salt and pepper

First, tenderise the meat a little bit and season with salt and pepper. Place the flour mixture, whisked eggs, and breadcrumbs in 3 separate shallow bowls. Dip the meat in the flour, eggs, and the breadcrumbs, coating both sides and all edges at each stage.  Fry in preheated oil from both sides for 8-10 minutes (depends on meat and thickness). Serve with potatoes, french fries or potato salad. Garnish with lemon slice and pickles.
