Tomato Sauce with Bread Dumplings „Rajská omáčka“

Tomato sauce is one of the most popular sauces in the Czech Republic. People love it, no matter their age. The sauce is red and sweet and so it is mostly the children who like to eat it. As a side dish, we recommend the typical breadcrumb dumplings or pasta. This sauce is very easy and quick to cook.

Rajská omáčka

  • 400 g tomatoes
  • 400 g tomato purée
  • 300 ml of meat broth

Place meat in a pot, cover with cold water and add salt. Bring to a boil. Collect the foam that forms on the top and cook gently for about 2 hours. Season with pepper. Peel the onion and roast it on pork lard, add chopped tomatoes, chopped garlic, vegetables and roast all ingredients for a while. Sprinkle with flour, pour over the tomato puree and meat broth, mix it and cook for 20 minutes. Remove the peppercorns, allspice and bay leaves from the sauce and mix the vegetables with a mixer.
